Run! Bitch Run!

It has been a super long while since I have watched a movie that has made me feel as dirty as Run! Bitch run! The last time would have been Last House on the Left. I was young when I watched it, so it made quite an impression on me. That was the first movie I had the luxury of viewing with a brutal rape scene in it. Run! Bitch Run! has many rape scenes and brutal, vile episodes of sex and violence.

The film is about two Catholic school girls that go door to door selling bibles. Bibles you ask? Well the have to make money somehow to feed the children. The girls end up knocking on the wrong door and the gruesome, violent fun begins. The house is occupied by three extremely fucked individuals. You have the leader, the crazy bitch girlfriend and the dummy sidekick who likes to watch exploitation movies with naked nuns brandishing large caliber handguns. Lobo, the leader sells drugs and pussy out of his home along with God knows what else. And if anyone is unforunate enough to get killed in his house, well, the body is donated to his mechanic friend for disposal, but not before he has some fun with the luke warm body. The crazy bitch girlfriend does her fair share of killing and raping throughout the movie along with the torturous ridicule of the dummy sidekick. And the dummy, well he is there to dig graves and kept around for comedic relief. Oh, back to the Catholic school girls. Lets just say they find themselves in a serious situation with no chance of making it out alive. Both of the girls are kidnapped and forced to play sick games of Russian Roulette and participate in various lewd acts of sexual perversion. SPOILER!!!............. After one of the girls ends up dead the other one is escorted to the woods for disposal, but not before everyone has their fun with her. Raped and fucked with a knife to finalize the last nail in the coffin she manages to escape. After a short recoup in the hospital she is ready for sweet fucking revenge! From here the movie moves in the direction of I Spit on Your Grave and The Last House on the Left. Nothing but hell bent revenge is on the surviving school girls mind and to hell with her religous beliefs. She is out for blood and will do anything necessary to fulfill her vigilante bloodbath.

This movie is by far one of the best low budget flicks I have seen in a while. The acting is bad, but it adds to the grindhouse/exploitation feel the director is shooting for. If you have a strong stomach and like an occasional mind fuck of a movie then Run! Bitch Run! is for you.

The Thing

I was fortunate enough to see The Thing at an early age. My father brought it home from the video store shortly after the family purchased their first VCR. We were big time! I believe I was age 10 (around 1986) when my inner psyche was torched by such a gruesome masterpiece. I couldn't believe my eyes as I sat through the entire film wondering what new monstrosity was going to mutate and jump out of the TV screen at me . Who was the next victim? Just the sheer feeling of terror and desolation was enough for me. The constant bickering and lack of trust between the characters was suffocating. Who knew if you were really you! Are you waiting for me to turn my back so you can impale me with your alien tentacles and twist my head off? The feeling of distrust and terror is what made this movie. The Thing absolutely turned my adolescent head inside out. Even now as an adult it still makes my skin crawl. Especially the defibrillator scene where the chest of Norris opens up and eats Cooper's hands. Wow! If that wasn't enough, the head comes off, grows legs, and walks away. Tell me that doesn't mess with the unmarred mind of a 10 year old. I tell you what, the special effects in this flick is what sparked my interest in horror movies. From here on out I was hooked. I developed a severe taste for the shocking perverse world of horror movies!

Thanks John Carpenter!

Individual Thought Patterns

What a shitty day! Some Death will definitely put me in a better mood. I think it will be Individual Thought Patterns that will pull me out of my slump. There was always something about Chuck Schuldiner's guitar tone that was like a drug to me. Chuck had a thick rich driven sound that was very distinctive as well with his style of playing.

Their fifth release had line-up changes this time around adding Gene Hoglan on drums and Andy LaRocque on guitar. I think they both delivered just as much as Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal did on Human. That too was an excellent album. The boys from Cynic are superb musicians and can throw down!

Individual Thought Patterns is a great example of how a band matures with each release. Every time Chuck Schuldiner put out an album he always delivered. You could always count on plenty of great chops and lots of killer harmonized leads. Trapped in a Corner and the title track off this album are both prime examples. Chuck paved the way for technical death metal and helped make a name for lots of musicians that passed through the line-up over the years.

Its a fucking shame we will never have the pleasure to hear anything else like Death again. Chuck passed away in December of 2001 due to complications with cancer.

Aftermath

I just finished watching Aftermath and I think my eyes need a shower! Released in 1994 and directed by Nacho Cerdà. The runtime is only 30 minutes, but it is a fucked up 30 minutes! The only words that come mind about this film is "Necrophilia- when you have the urge to crack open a cold one". There is absolutely no dialog in this film, so it is up to you to decode what exactly it is that's going on. Although there is not much to tell other than Cannibal Corpse may have come up with a few song titles from watching this film. The film is based around a medical examiner that seems to have a crush on the recently deceased. He performs various acts of lewd and crude measures until he reaches self satisfaction. If you are in the mood for gore and necrophilia then by all means watch this short little gem.

Preternatural

I just finished listening to the album Statical by Preternatural. Wow! Completely amazing! If you are a fan of Pestilence and or Atrophia Red Sun then this is for you. These guys hail from Latvia. Just another prime example of great music that comes from Europe.

The overall atmosphere of the album has a very catchy, punchy vibe.
